Aluminum Can Making Scrap Metal Robotic Handling and Baling

Impact Air Systems Secures Major Scrap and Fume Extraction Contracts with Ball Packaging

Impact Air Systems, global specialists in can scrap and fume extraction, has been awarded new contracts by can-making leader Ball Packaging for its production facilities in Wakefield, UK and France.

The turnkey system includes automated scrap conveying and bale handling, efficiently collecting aluminium scrap from the cupping press and trimmers, separating bright and decorated material, and delivering it to two hydraulic balers.

In a smart cost-saving twist, Impact’s pallet-free bale stacking design creates forklift access without wooden pallets—maximising vehicle payloads and boosting aluminium scrap revenue.

Alongside scrap handling, Impact has also installed oil mist, dust, and fume extraction systems, helping Ball Packaging maintain a safe, clean working environment while increasing recovery and sustainability.
